Letter from Jim Harris Webmaster

My name is Jim Harris. Scouting has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Most of the older Scouter’s may remember me from my youth, working at Camp Jackson. That is where scouting came to life for me. This is why I started the Camp Jackson web-site. www.campjackson.org Most everyone has used this camp at some point in their Scouting career. We are asking everyone to spread the word about this great BSA property and encouraging scouts of all ages to plan events, have campouts and enjoy this resource the Council has let us keep.

On the website you will find service projects, information on facilities to support you next event or just the best places to go to get away. Camp Jackson is being updated and has over 515 acres to explore with trails that lead to some of the best places in North Alabama. Many of volunteer’s have stepped up and put a lot of hard work into Camp Jackson last year. Greater Alabama Council has dedicated every 3rd Saturday as work day at camp.

What can you do?

Spread the word about Camp Jackson at Roundtables, Troup Meetings and District Events.

Keep me up-to-date so we can let others know on the web-site what is going on at Camp Jackson.

Send in those pictures of activities to be posted on the web-site. Write-ups are welcome.

Add links to the www.campjackson.org  from your hosted web-site.

If you have old pictures or articles on the history, I have started a history section.

Thanks for your support.

Yours in Scouting

Jim Harris
