TO: Jackson County Boy Scout Volunteers
FROM: Dr. Richard Russell, Greater Alabama Council Board Chair George Elliott, Council Vice President for Properties Ed O’Neal, Mountain Lakes District Chair DATE: January 31, 2007 RE: Changes in the Development of Camp Jackson This week, we heard back from the group interested in the immediate development of Camp Jackson. Due to restrictions of the TVA in the development near the shoreline and camp in general, the group has decided to not build at Camp Jackson. Where this is disappointing, we understand the concern and support this decision. The group is looking at other property owned by the Greater Alabama Council for the development of their unique outdoor training center.
During this time, certain local individuals have come forward and shown an interest to invest money and resources in Camp Jackson’s development. We will of course be in contact with these individuals and see their interest in this area.
We are pleased to report that our Campmaster program, under the leadership of Authur Thompson, is underway with more information out in the near future.
Let us thank each and all Scout volunteers in the Jackson County area who have shown an interest in Camp Jackson, and we look forward to communicating more in the future.
Please feel free to forward this memo to others in the area who have an interest in our Scouting program and Camp Jackson.
